GBC IS Mission

O God, whose Son Jesus is the good shepherd of thy people; Grant that when we hear his voice we may know him who calls us each by name, and follow where he leads; who, with thee and the Holy Spirit, liveth and reigneth, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Almighty God, whose most dear Son went not up to joy but first he suffered pain, and entered not into glory before he was crucified: Mercifully grant that we, walking in the way of the cross, may find it none other than the way of life and peace; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord. Amen.

Lord Jesus Christ, who didst stretch out thine arms of love on the hard wood of the cross that everyone might come within the reach of thy saving embrace: So clothe us in thy Spirit that we, reaching forth our hands in love, may bring those who do not know thee to the knowledge and love of you; for the honor of thy Name. Amen.

Ask God to use GBC to bring the gospel to the world.

Confession...

Confession clears the passage between God and us. It is a great way to start a prayer.

Almighty and most merciful Father,
we have erred and strayed from thy ways like lost sheep,
we have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts,
we have offended against thy holy laws,
we have left undone those things which we ought to have done,
and we have done those things which we ought not to have done.
But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us,
spare thou those who confess their faults,
restore thou those who are penitent,
according to thy promises declared unto mankind
in Christ Jesus our Lord;
and grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake,
that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life,
to the glory of thy holy Name. Amen.

The Almighty and merciful Lord grant us absolution and remission of all our sins, true repentance, amendment of life, and the grace and consolation of his Holy Spirit. Amen.

Now that you have "cleared the air," please, ask God to bless planning and preparation. Stress for those involved can be quite the weight around their neck. Pray for their peace and reliance on God's grace.

Are You Glad?

Psalm 122
  1. I was glad when they said to me, "Let us go to the house of the LORD."
  2. Our feet are standing within your gates, O Jerusalem,
  3. Jerusalem, that is built as a city that is compact together;
  4. To which the tribes go up, even the tribes of the LORD-- an ordinance for Israel-- to give thanks to the name of the LORD.
  5. For there thrones were set for judgment, the thrones of the house of David.
  6. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May they prosper who love you.
  7. "May peace be within your walls, and prosperity within your palaces."
  8. For the sake of my brothers and my friends, I will now say, "May peace be within you."
  9. For the sake of the house of the LORD our God I will seek your good.

When we pray, we go to "the house of the Lord." Are you glad to be here? As you pray for GBC today, ask God to make you glad that you are in His presence.

There are three new workshops at the conference to pray for today

  • Blogging and Writing Carrers - Julie Anne Fidler
  • Blogging Technology -- Marvin Hutchens
  • Apologtics Blogging - Jonathon Witt

please pray for these presenters today.

Pray Urgently!

Psalm 70
  1. O God, hasten to deliver me; O LORD, hasten to my help
  2. Let those be ashamed and humiliated who seek my life; let those be turned back and dishonored who delight in my hurt.
  3. Let those be turned back because of their shame who say, "Aha, aha!"
  4. Let all who seek Thee rejoice and be glad in Thee; and let those who love Thy salvation say continually, "Let God be magnified."
  5. But I am afflicted and needy; hasten to me, O God! Thou art my help and my deliverer; O LORD, do not delay.

There is no messing around in this Psalm. The psalmist just gets down to brass tacks with God. We should pray with such urgency. GBC may be months away, but the needs for it are urgent. The planning and organization are hard work, and haste can be the last thing on the mind when trying to work out logistics for something like this. Rooms for meetings and lodging need to be determined and open. Service staff needs to be arranged...and...and...and.... Pray for such logistics.

A Prayer from St. Chrysostom

Almighty God, who hast given us grace at this time with one accord to make our common supplication unto thee; and hast promised through thy well-beloved Son that when two or three are gathered together in his Name thou wilt be in the midst of them: Fulfill now, O Lord, our desires and petitions of thy servants as may be best for us; granting us in this world knowledge of thy truth, and in the world to come life everlasting. Amen

We want to pray not only for the organization of the conference, but for the attendees as well. Planning on coming but need some prayer help on some related issue? Travel money? Time off from work? Use the email prayer request in the side bar and send us your concerns. All concerns will be published here, unless you specifically request that it not be. We have a prayer team that will be notified of private and confidential requests.

Going Again

The GodBlogCon Prayer Blog is now re-opened! Welcome aboard! Please join us here everyday and pray for GBC. We will have specific requests as much as possible.

Today, a well known prayer from St. Francis.

Lord, make us instruments of thy peace. Where there is hatred, let us sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is discord, union; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy. Grant that we may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen
