Praise The Lord

Psalm 150
1 Praise the LORD! Praise God in His sanctuary; praise Him in His mighty expanse.
2 Praise Him for His mighty deeds; praise Him according to His excellent greatness.
3 Praise Him with trumpet sound; praise Him with harp and lyre.
4 Praise Him with timbrel and dancing; praise Him with stringed instruments and pipe.
5 Praise Him with loud cymbals; praise Him with resounding cymbals.
6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD!

We have a location nailed down. It cannot be announced yet, but it is firm. Praise God for this development.

Fat Prayers

Prov 15:26-33
26 Evil plans are an abomination to the LORD, but pleasant words are pure. 27 He who profits illicitly troubles his own house, but he who hates bribes will live. 28 The heart of the righteous ponders how to answer, but the mouth of the wicked pours out evil things. 29 The LORD is far from the wicked, but He hears the prayer of the righteous. 30 Bright eyes gladden the heart; good news puts fat on the bones. 31 He whose ear listens to the life-giving reproof will dwell among the wise. 32 He who neglects discipline despises himself, but he who listens to reproof acquires understanding. 33 The fear of the LORD is the instruction for wisdom, and before honor comes humility.

This passage urges care when we pray. We should be careful when we pray not to be vile, or vindictive. We should not pray for things that we know God does not want.

Don't you love this line, "good news puts fat on the bones." Make your prayers good news, make yourself and God fat today.

Here's a Prayer Tip

Transforming Sermons posted about prayer yesterday. It's a good tip for those of us trying to pray here. Check it out and follow the links.

Groans Too Deep

Rom 8:26-28
26 And in the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; 27 and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. 28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

When we do not know how to pray, God does. Our results are less important than our efforts. We may not know what to say to God, but if we try, He will understand. Makes it much easier to pray, doesn't it?

Today pray for these GodBlogCon Leaders:

James Says It All

James 5:13-16
13 Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praises. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; 15 and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him. 16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.

Not much one can add to that!

Love Thy Salvation

Ps 40:9-17
9 I have proclaimed glad tidings of righteousness in the great congregation; behold, I will not restrain my lips, O LORD, Thou knowest.
10 I have not hidden Thy righteousness within my heart; I have spoken of Thy faithfulness and Thy salvation; I have not concealed Thy lovingkindness and Thy truth from the great congregation.
11 Thou, O LORD, wilt not withhold Thy compassion from me; Thy lovingkindness and Thy truth will continually preserve me.
12 For evils beyond number have surrounded me; My iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to see; they are more numerous than the hairs of my head; and my heart has failed me.
13 Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me; make haste, O LORD, to help me.
14 Let those be ashamed and humiliated together who seek my life to destroy it; let those be turned back and dishonored who delight in my hurt.
15 Let those be appalled because of their shame who say to me, "Aha, aha!"
16 Let all who seek Thee rejoice and be glad in Thee; let those who love Thy salvation say continually, "The LORD be magnified!"
17 Since I am afflicted and needy, let the Lord be mindful of me; Thou art my help and my deliverer; do not delay, O my God.

I am a firm believer in the omniscience of God. Therefore, I sometimes find it hard to just tell him what's going on, I figure He has to know it. I love the way the psalmist in this passage tells God what's happening,

I also love the phrase "those who love Thy salvation." Do you? Ask God for love of His salvation today.

In Thy Strength

Ps 21:1-7

1 O LORD, in Thy strength the king will be glad, and in Thy salvation how greatly he will rejoice!
2 Thou hast given him his heart's desire, and Thou hast not withheld the request of his lips. Selah.
3 For Thou dost meet him with the blessings of good things; Thou dost set a crown of fine gold on his head.
4 He asked life of Thee, Thou didst give it to him, length of days forever and ever.
5 His glory is great through Thy salvation, splendor and majesty Thou dost place upon him.
6 For Thou dost make him most blessed forever; Thou dost make him joyful with gladness in Thy presence.
7 For the king trusts in the LORD, and through the lovingkindness of the Most High he will not be shaken.

Pray Like This

Matt 6:9-13
9 "Pray, then, in this way: 'Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name.
10 'Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, On earth as it is in heaven.
11 'Give us this day our daily bread.
12 'And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 'And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. [For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.]'

'Nuff Said, don't you think? Remember GodBlogCon in your petitions this day.
